Start at the Mankato City Center Plaza located at 401 S 2nd St, Mankato, MN 56001. Head south on S 2nd St towards E Cherry St. Continue walking straight for about 0.5 miles until you reach the intersection with Riverfront Dr. Turn left onto Riverfront Dr and walk along the scenic riverfront for about 0.8 miles. You will pass through a beautiful area with views of the river. Continue straight until you reach the end of Riverfront Dr. At this point, you will see the entrance to Minneopa State Park on your left. Follow the path into the park and look for signs directing you to the Minneopa Picnic Area, which is located within the park.
Biking
Begin at the Mankato Bike Trail located near the Mankato City Center. Head south on the bike trail that runs parallel to the river. Follow the trail for approximately 1.3 miles. You will eventually connect to the Minneopa State Park trail. Continue to follow the bike path, and watch for signs indicating the direction to the Minneopa Picnic Area. This route is scenic and safe for cyclists, offering beautiful views along the way.
