Getting There

  • Car

    If you are driving from the center of Mississippi River Headwaters, head north on MN-71 N. Continue on MN-71 N for approximately 20 miles until you reach the junction with MN-34 E. Take the exit onto MN-34 E and follow it for about 14 miles until you enter Park Rapids. Once in Park Rapids, follow the signs for Itasca State Park. Turn left onto Main Park Drive, and after approximately 5 miles, you will arrive at the park entrance located at 36750 Main Pk Dr, Park Rapids, MN 56470. There is an entrance fee of $7 per vehicle for the day.

    To reach Itasca State Park via public transportation, first take a bus from any location in the Mississippi River Headwaters region to Park Rapids. Services like the Northstar Link provide routes to Park Rapids.
