Discover more about Old Capitol Inn

The Old Capitol Inn, located in the heart of downtown Jackson, Mississippi, offers a distinctive lodging experience steeped in history and Southern hospitality. Housed in a building constructed in 1952 as the Young Women's Christian Association (YWCA), the inn has a rich past. The YWCA provided housing for young women relocating from rural Mississippi towns to work in the city and even featured a basketball court and the first integrated Olympic-sized swimming pool in Mississippi. After the YWCA moved out, the building sat vacant for several years before being purchased in 1996 by a local attorney and business professional, Michael J. Malouf, who converted it into a bed and breakfast. The Old Capitol Inn derives its name from its proximity to the Old Capitol Museum. Today, the Inn features 24 luxuriously appointed guest rooms, blending Southern charm and sophisticated comfort. Many rooms include a private parlor area, and the Inn offers whirlpool tub/honeymoon suites, one-bedroom suites, and standard rooms. The Inn boasts a New Orleans-style courtyard with a picturesque fountain, a sunroom café, and a rooftop bar that offers spectacular city views. The Malouf family, lifetime residents of Jackson, own and operate the Old Capitol Inn, and they take pride in showcasing their city and providing true Southern hospitality. The Old Capitol Inn is within walking distance of several attractions, including the Mississippi Civil Rights Museum, the Museum of Mississippi History, and the William F. Winter Archives Building.
