From the Natchez Visitor Center at 640 S Canal St, head east on S Canal St toward Main St. Turn left onto Main St and continue for about 0.3 miles until you reach the intersection with the Natchez Trace Parkway. Cross over to the other side of the street and continue straight. After about 0.5 miles, you will approach the intersection with the bridge access road. Follow the signs to the Natchez-Vidalia Bridge; the entrance will be on your right. The walk is approximately 1 mile from the Visitor Center. There is no cost to walk the bridge.

The Natchez-Vidalia Bridge is more than just a functional structure; it symbolizes connection and beauty, linking Natchez, Mississippi, and Vidalia, Louisiana. The bridge is especially captivating at sunset when the sky transforms into a canvas of colors reflected in the water below, creating a picturesque scene.The Natchez-Vidalia Bridge comprises two parallel structures spanning 4,205 feet across the Mississippi River, with a clearance of 125 feet. The original bridge, completed in 1940 by the Works Progress Administration (WPA), initially operated as a toll crossing. The construction was part of a larger effort to strengthen flood protection in the area, which led to the relocation of Vidalia six blocks inland in 1939. The second bridge, completed in 1988, accommodates traffic from Vidalia to Natchez.Today, the original bridge carries westbound traffic from Mississippi to Louisiana, while the newer span handles eastbound traffic. The original toll plaza remains on the Natchez side, showcasing semi-circular wooden columns that mark its early revenue collection period. The bridge also underwent a $3 million lighting project in 2010, enhancing its appeal as a scenic attraction.
