Walking
From the Vicksburg National Military Park visitor center, Fort Hill is accessible by car or a moderate walk. Follow the park's tour road, which is well-marked. The walk to the fort from the visitor center area takes approximately 20-30 minutes, allowing you to appreciate the park's landscape and other historical markers along the way. There are no fees associated with accessing the park beyond the general park entrance fee.
Driving
If driving from downtown Vicksburg, take US-61 South and follow the signs for the Vicksburg National Military Park. Once inside the park, follow the tour road to Fort Hill. Parking is available near the Fort Hill site. The entrance fee for the Vicksburg National Military Park is $25 per vehicle, valid for 7 days. Alternatively, you can purchase an America the Beautiful Pass for $80, which grants access to all national parks and federal recreation lands for one year.
