Car
If you are traveling by car from anywhere in Bootheel, head towards the nearest major road, Highway 60. Once you are on Highway 60, head west towards the city of Poplar Bluff. Continue on Highway 60 until you reach Highway 67 North. Take the exit for Highway 67 North towards Farmington. After approximately 23 miles, take the exit for MO-72 West towards Ironton. Continue on MO-72 for about 20 miles until you reach the intersection with MO-21. Turn right onto MO-21 North and continue for about 6 miles. Then, turn left onto MO-49. Continue on MO-49 until you reach the town of Jadwin. The Welch Spring Hospital Ruins will be located just outside of Jadwin at the coordinates 37.3938897, -91.574362. There are no tolls on this route.
Public Transportation
Public transportation options are limited in the Bootheel area, so it is advisable to plan ahead. First, you will need to find a local bus service that can take you to Poplar Bluff. Once in Poplar Bluff, you can take a Greyhound or a similar long-distance bus service towards Farmington. From Farmington, you will need to arrange for a taxi or rideshare service to reach Jadwin, as public transportation does not directly service that area. Be sure to check the bus schedules in advance as they may not run frequently.
Biking
For those adventurous enough to bike to Welch Spring Hospital Ruins, start in a central location in Bootheel and make your way towards Highway 60. Follow the same route mentioned for cars, using MO-49 to reach Jadwin. The distance is approximately 50 miles, so ensure you are well-prepared with water and snacks. There are rural roads along the way, so be cautious of traffic and plan your trip during daylight hours.
Walking
Walking to Welch Spring Hospital Ruins is not feasible due to the long distance (approximately 50 miles) and lack of pedestrian-friendly paths along the highways. It is not recommended to walk this distance; consider using a car or arranging for a ride.
