    Mark Twain Cave is located at 300 Cave Hollow Rd, Hannibal, MO 63401, approximately 2 miles south of historic downtown Hannibal on Route 79. From downtown, follow Main Street south, then turn left onto Cave Hollow Road. The cave complex will be on your right. Parking is free and plentiful. Note that during peak season, parking areas near the main gift shop can fill up, but additional parking is available near the winery and pavilion.

    Trolley

    The Hannibal Trolley Tours offer a narrated tour of Hannibal, with a stop at the Mark Twain Cave Complex. The trolley departs from 220 N. Main St. in downtown Hannibal. Check the Hannibal Trolley Tours website or call for schedules and pricing. A round-trip ticket costs around $20 per person.

    The Mark Twain Cave, originally known as McDowell's Cave, is a captivating show cave near Hannibal, Missouri. Discovered in the winter of 1819-1820 by a local hunter, Jack Simms, it quickly became a popular spot for locals. Samuel Langhorne Clemens, better known as Mark Twain, spent much of his childhood exploring the cave, which later served as inspiration for the famous McDougal's Cave in 'The Adventures of Tom Sawyer'.Today, the Mark Twain Cave stands as Missouri's oldest operating show cave, offering guided tours since 1886. Visitors can traverse the cave's maze-like passages, admire the unique geological formations of Louisiana Lithographic Limestone, and view some of the 250,000 signatures etched into the walls over the decades. Keep an eye out for the signatures of Jesse James and, potentially, Mark Twain himself. The cave maintains a steady 52 degrees Fahrenheit year-round, making it a comfortable destination no matter the season.The Mark Twain Cave Complex also includes the Cameron Cave, a flashlight tour through a natural maze.
