Originally built in 1893, it served as the Mackey Shoe Company before becoming the home of J.A. Lamy Manufacturing Co. For over half a century, starting in 1948, Lamy's exclusively produced Levi's jeans, employing hundreds of local workers and churning out 60,000 pairs a week at its peak.After sitting vacant for nearly two decades after the Levi's factory closed in 1998, the building was lovingly restored between 2017 and 2020. Today, Lamy's Building is a vibrant community space. The first floor hosts Josey Records, Ox Horn Market (a general store and coffee shop), and #5 Bistro & Bar, named in honor of Lamy's being the fifth factory to produce Levi's. The second floor offers office and event spaces, while the third floor houses luxury apartments. The renovation retains many original features, including maple wood floors and exposed brick, blending the building's rich history with modern amenities.Located across the street from the Amtrak station and near the Missouri State Fairgrounds, Lamy's Building is a central hub in Sedalia.
