Originally purchased from Joseph Sicher, it was initially known as Sicher's Park. The Sicher family, who had migrated from Austria, developed the park with amenities like a racetrack, lake, and various buildings for events and exhibitions. The park quickly became a popular leisure destination, hosting agricultural fairs, festivals, and community gatherings. In 1900, the park was renamed Liberty Park. Today, it continues to serve as a versatile recreational space. The Convention Hall, constructed in 1911, houses the Parks and Recreation Office and features an auditorium, meeting rooms, and dance spaces. The park boasts a variety of facilities, including a baseball stadium, basketball and tennis courts, sand volleyball courts, shelter houses, and picnic areas. A lake is available for recreational fishing, and a rose garden adds to the park's aesthetic appeal. Liberty Park also holds historical significance in the realm of baseball, with a grandstand constructed in 1937-1938 that remains in use. The park has been home to various baseball teams throughout the years and continues to host games. The Libertyland Flyer Train is currently undergoing refurbishment, with plans for a grand reveal in September 2025, aiming to revive cherished memories for visitors.
