Constructed in 1892, it was designed by the renowned Boston architectural firm of Peabody, Stearns & Furber. The building's facade features a combination of granite on the first two floors, with pink limestone and brick on the upper levels, exemplifying the Classical Revival style.Originally built to house the Security Bank, the building quickly became a hub for financial institutions, leading to 4th Street being known as "St. Louis's Wall Street". From 1895 to 1964, the Security Building was home to the Noonday Club, an exclusive gathering place for St. Louis's leading businessmen. Notably, members of the Noonday Club played a crucial role in financing Charles Lindbergh's historic 1927 transatlantic flight in the Spirit of St. Louis.The Security Building is one of the few remaining examples of the tall office buildings that once defined St. Louis's skyline in the late 1800s. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2000 and has been designated a City Landmark.
