Discover more about Bonniebrook Home & Museum

Bonniebrook Home & Museum offers a glimpse into the life and work of Rose O'Neill, a woman of many talents: artist, writer, illustrator, and creator of the internationally famous Kewpie doll. The O'Neill family homesteaded the land in 1893, and Rose O'Neill named it Bonniebrook after falling in love with the property. She considered Bonniebrook her true home, a place where she felt most inspired. While the original Bonniebrook home burned down in 1947, the Bonniebrook Historical Society has meticulously reconstructed the 14-room Ozarks mansion. Today, visitors can tour the re-created home, which is furnished in the style of the era when the O'Neill family lived there, the Fine Art Gallery, and the Kewpie Museum. The museum displays hundreds of antique Kewpie products, including dolls, figurines, and comic pages. The Bonniebrook Fine Art Gallery includes O'Neill's original art exhibited in Paris, along with pieces published in magazines such as Cosmopolitan and Harper's Bazaar. Visitors can also stroll the scenic Ozarks walking trails, explore the sculpture gardens, and visit the O'Neill family cemetery. Bonniebrook offers a unique opportunity to connect with Ozarks history, art, nature, and culture.
