Discover more about Țaul Park

Țaul Park, located in the village of Țaul, Dondușeni district, is the largest park in Moldova, stretching over 46.2 hectares. Established in the early 20th century around the Pommer family estate, this landscape architecture monument is a blend of natural beauty and historical significance. The park is divided into two main sections: an upper part, featuring the Pommer mansion surrounded by avenues and flower beds, and a lower part that resembles a forest with trees from various geographical regions. The arboretum boasts around 150 species of trees, shrubs, and vines, many of which are exotic and cannot be found elsewhere in Moldova. Visitors can explore winding paths stretching over 12.5 km, discovering unique trees like Canadian Douglas fir, Japanese cherry, and various types of larch and fir. Originally founded by Ivan (Andrei Iacob) Pommer, a French-Russian banker, the park was designed by landscape architect Ipolit Vladislavski-Padalko. Pommer aimed to create an exceptional arboretum, importing trees from the Far East, Siberia, and Western Europe. Today, while some neglect is visible, the park retains its charm with picturesque valleys and peaceful pathways, offering a serene escape for nature enthusiasts. The park also features a small zoo with animals like chickens and swans.
