Fascinating place to visit but poor value for money

If you're going to Moldova this is a place you really have to visit, it's amazing to experience just how huge it is. However, we paid more than £70 per person for the tour, and considering how cheap Moldova is in general, this was way too much money for the two hours we spent there. We were in a group of about 25 people, taken to a few locations for brief explanations about what we were looking at for about an hour. You are then served a lunch of meats, nuts, bread sticks and prunes to have with your three wines. It's all very tasty and the area you do this in is lovely, but I was expecting a bit of information from the guide about how to properly taste the wines, you're pretty much just left to your own devices to drink them. You get a free bottle of wine each at the end of the tour, but that same bottle of wine was on sale in the gift shop for £4, so again the value for money is highly questionable. Our guide who picked us up and dropped us off was very friendly, and as I say it's a really cool experience to go to the world's biggest wine cellar. But I guess it is now a little bit of a tourist trap, and considering this was the cheapest group tour I could find online, it's still very overpriced.

Amazing Experience in the World's Largest Wine Cellar

This is a "must do" experience when visiting Chisinau. The largest wine cellar in the world is quite something to behold. 1.5 million bottles of wine!! The knowledgeable guide provided details of the origin of the cellar, the processes involved, who kept their wines in the cellars and much more. At the end of the tour there was an individual plate of meats and olives plus three glasses of wine - red, white and dessert. Dasha was a very safe driver and collected me from the hotel. She provided much interesting information about Chisinau and Moldova which I would otherwise not have known.
