Râșcani Forest-Park: Chișinău's Green Escape

Râșcani Forest-Park, located at the border of Chișinău's Ciocana and Râșcani districts, is a beloved green space offering respite from the city's hustle. Founded in 1970 on a natural forest massif, the park spans 32 hectares and was formerly named after Boris Glavan. Today, it remains a favorite destination for residents and visitors seeking tranquility and natural beauty.The park is bisected by Aleco Russo Street, creating two distinct sections. The upper part, towards Ciocana, is characterized by its leafy trees, while the lower part, near Râșcani, features a pine forest planted during the park's establishment. This diverse landscape provides a picturesque setting throughout the year, especially during spring and late autumn. From higher elevations, visitors can enjoy excellent views of the city.Within the park, well-maintained walking trails wind through the scenic landscape, offering opportunities for leisurely strolls, jogging, and picnics. Families can enjoy designated children's play areas, while couples can find romantic spots amidst the peaceful surroundings. Although swimming is prohibited due to pollution, the lakes on either side of the park add to the area's charm, with locals often fishing along the banks. In winter, the frozen lakes transform into makeshift skating rinks, and the park's slopes become popular sledding spots.
