Discover more about Rose Valley Park

Rose Valley Park, or Valea Trandafirilor, is a sprawling urban oasis in Chișinău, Moldova, offering a delightful retreat from the city's hustle and bustle. Spanning 145 hectares, with 9 hectares dedicated to lakes, this park provides a blend of natural beauty and recreational opportunities. Originally, the area held the ruins of an ancient Slavonic sanctuary. In the 1950s, rose plantations were established, giving the park its name. By the late 1960s, the park underwent significant improvements, including the creation of new paths, concrete dams, and the clearing of silt from the lakes. Today, visitors can explore around 500 varieties of shrubs and flora. The park features three small lakes, each encircled by walking paths, making it ideal for leisurely strolls. Sculptures and art installations dot the landscape, adding a touch of culture to the natural surroundings. For recreation, there are children's playgrounds, sports fields, and even a small amusement park with the only Ferris wheel in Chișinău, affectionately called the 'devil's wheel' by locals. Several restaurants and landscaped beaches are also available within the park. Rose Valley Park is not only a place for leisure but also a site of historical significance. The remains of stone idols, restored as decorative statues, and the foundation of an ancient construction, now part of the Cetatea Veche restaurant, serve as reminders of the area's past. Close to the park's edge, along Trandafirilor Street, stands the Chernobyl Victims Memorial, commemorating the tragic events of Chernobyl.
