Designed by Mitrofan Elladi and later supervised by Alexandru Bernardazzi, the building was completed in 1902 and quickly became a central feature of Chișinău. However, its journey has been marked by periods of destruction and restoration. During World War II, the City Hall suffered significant damage, being destroyed in 1941 and again in 1944. Architect Robert Kurtz led the post-war restoration efforts, ensuring the façade was meticulously returned to its original glory.Today, the City Hall continues to serve as the administrative heart of Chișinău and houses important government offices, including the Municipal Council and the Mayor's Office.
