Discover more about Țâpova

Țâpova Nature Preserve, near the village of the same name in the Rezina district of Moldova, spans 306 hectares and stands as one of Moldova's most famous nature reserves. Managed by the Orhei State Forestry Enterprise and Lalova Farm, it features a complex of cliffs along the Dniester River, a gorge, caves, and cultural monuments, including an 11th-century rock monastery. The area also boasts waterfalls, forests of gorun, scumpie, hazel, and hazelnut trees. Țâpova is shrouded in legends and myths, attracting ufologists, mystics, and those interested in bio-energy. Some believe it holds an energy channel connecting Earth and the Cosmos. The preserve is also unique for its fruit trees that grow and bear fruit without human intervention, with fruits as sweet and flavorful as those from cultivated gardens. The Țâpova Monastery, a cave monastery on the banks of the Dniester River, is one of the most impressive in Moldova and among the largest in Europe. With multiple levels, it once housed over 700 monks. Some monasteries were dug into the rocks as early as the 10th-12th centuries for protection against invasions. The monastery offers a view of the Dniester riverbed. The rocky relief, narrow paths and natural landscape create a unique route for tourists, but not easily accessible. The Țâpova stream forms a series of cascades, ranging from 10-16 meters in height, which once powered water mills. The area is home to diverse flora and fauna, making it ideal for birdwatching and photography.
