    To reach Curchi Monastery via public transport, take a marshrutka (minibus) from the central bus station in Chișinău to Orhei. The journey takes approximately 1 hour and costs around 30 MDL. From Orhei, take a local bus or taxi to Curchi. A taxi ride from Orhei to Curchi will cost approximately 50 MDL and take about 15 minutes.

    If driving from Chișinău, take the E581 road north towards Orhei. After approximately 40 kilometers, follow the signs to Orhei. Upon entering Orhei, continue straight until you reach the village of Curchi. The monastery is located at Curchi 3524, and parking is available on-site. A taxi from Chisinau will cost around 500 MDL and take approximately 40 minutes.

    Curchi Monastery, located in the Orhei district, is a serene escape into Moldova's religious and architectural history. Founded in 1773 by the brothers Iordache and Mihail Curchi, the monastery began as a modest wooden hermitage. Over time, it evolved into a significant monastic complex, showcasing a blend of architectural styles, including Baroque and Neo-Byzantine influences.The monastery's main church, the Cathedral “Nașterea Domnului” (Nativity of the Lord), is particularly noteworthy, with its design inspired by the Church of St. Andrew in Kyiv and created in the Baroque style by Italian architect Bartolomeo Rastrelli. Its impressive dome reaches a height of 57 meters, making it the tallest in Moldova. The architectural ensemble includes five churches, monastic cells, administrative buildings, and a bell tower, all harmoniously integrated into the lush landscape.Curchi Monastery has had a turbulent past. In 1958, it was closed by Soviet authorities and repurposed as a psychiatric hospital, leading to neglect and damage. Fortunately, restoration efforts began in the early 2000s, and the monastery has since regained its role as a spiritual and cultural center.
