Cetatea de Scaun a Sucevei: A Medieval Marvel

Cetatea de Scaun a Sucevei, or the Seat Fortress of Suceava, is a captivating medieval fortress located on the eastern edge of Suceava, Romania. Constructed in the late 14th century by Prince Peter Mușat, it served as the main residence for Moldavian princes for nearly two centuries. Perched on a plateau overlooking the Suceava River valley, the fortress was strategically positioned to defend the capital from Ottoman threats.Throughout its history, the fortress underwent significant modifications, particularly during the reign of Stephen the Great in the 15th century. Famous rulers such as Alexander the Good, Petru Rareș, and Vasile Lupu resided within its walls. In 1600, Prince Michael the Brave peacefully seized the fortress.
