Discover more about Țaul Park

Nestled in the heart of Moldova, approximately 200 km north of Chișinău, Țaul Park stands as the country's largest dendrological park, covering an impressive 64 hectares. Established between 1901 and 1904 by landscape architect Ipolit Vladislavski-Padalko, under the commission of French-Russian banker Andrei Iacob Pommer, the park is a testament to early 20th-century landscape design. The park is divided into two distinct sections: an upper part featuring the Pommer family's rustic residence, surrounded by avenues and flower beds, and a lower part resembling a natural forest with diverse tree groupings from various geographical regions. This design incorporates over 150 species of trees, shrubs, and vines, many of which are exotic to the region. Visitors can explore an extensive network of alleys, paths, and trails stretching over 12.5 km.Despite facing neglect and requiring restoration, Țaul Park retains its potential as a prime tourist destination. The park's picturesque valleys and peaceful pathways invite leisurely strolls, while remnants of historical buildings, including the Pommer family palace and a unique water tower constructed with rivets, offer glimpses into the past. The park also features a tranquil 2-hectare pond, adding to the scenic beauty. While a small Soviet-era zoo exists within the park, it is noted to be poorly maintained.Recent renovations, funded by the National Fund for Regional Development, aim to rehabilitate the park's infrastructure and enhance its appeal to tourists. These efforts include the restoration of fences, the creation of access roads, and the renovation of historical buildings, including the Pommer mansion, which will house a museum dedicated to the Pommer family and the park's history.
