Local know-how to help you travel smarter and make the most of every moment.
Car
If you are traveling by car, start from the town of Mandalgovi, the capital of Dundgovi Province. Head southeast on the A-4 highway for approximately 100 km. After about 1.5 to 2 hours of driving, you will see signs directing you to Tsagaan Suvarga. Turn onto the gravel road that leads to the site, which is around 10 km off the main road. The area is well-marked, but be cautious of the terrain as it can be rough in places.
Public Transportation
For those relying on public transportation, take a bus from Ulaanbaatar to Mandalgovi, which departs regularly from the Gobi Bus Station. The bus ride takes around 6-7 hours and costs approximately 15,000 MNT. Once in Mandalgovi, you can hire a taxi or arrange for a local guide to take you to Tsagaan Suvarga, which is about 100 km away. Taxi fares for this trip typically range from 30,000 to 50,000 MNT, depending on your bargaining skills.
Guided Tour
Consider booking a guided tour from Ulaanbaatar that includes Tsagaan Suvarga. Many tour operators offer packages that cover transportation, meals, and a guide. This option can be more convenient as it includes everything you need. Prices vary based on the length of the tour and included services, but expect to pay upwards of 100,000 MNT per person for a day trip.
