If you are driving from the center of Karakorum, head southeast on the main road leading out of the city. Follow the signs for Ulaanbaatar. After approximately 80 kilometers, you will reach Ulaanbaatar city limits. Continue straight until you see signs for Sukhbaatar Square. Turn left onto Peace Avenue (Төв зам). Follow this road until you reach Sukhbaatar Square, which will be on your right. Parking is available nearby, but may incur a small fee depending on the location.
Public Transportation (Bus)
From Karakorum, you can take a bus heading towards Ulaanbaatar. Buses leave frequently from the central bus station in Karakorum. The fare is generally around 10,000 MNT (Mongolian Tugrik). The journey takes about 1.5 to 2 hours depending on traffic. Once you arrive at the Ulaanbaatar bus terminal, exit the terminal and walk towards the main road. You can either walk or take a local taxi to reach Sukhbaatar Square, which is about 15 minutes away. Taxi fares in Ulaanbaatar are typically around 5,000-10,000 MNT.
Taxi
If you prefer a more direct route, you can hire a taxi from Karakorum to Ulaanbaatar. This is the quickest option, taking approximately 1.5 hours depending on traffic. The fare can range from 60,000 to 100,000 MNT. Once you arrive in Ulaanbaatar, ask the driver to take you directly to Sukhbaatar Square, which is a known landmark.
Shared Van
Another cost-effective option is to take a shared van (microbus) from Karakorum to Ulaanbaatar. These vans usually depart from designated stops in Karakorum and are generally cheaper than taxis, with fares around 5,000-7,000 MNT. The journey may take 1.5 to 2 hours. Upon arriving in Ulaanbaatar, you may need to take a short taxi ride or walk to Sukhbaatar Square, which is about a 15-minute walk from the van drop-off point.
