Getting There

• Private Car

  From Khar Nuur, head east on the main road, following signs towards Töv. Continue on this road for approximately 30 kilometers. You will pass several smaller lakes and scenic landscapes. Keep an eye out for the turn-off to Lake Khar, which will be marked with a sign. Turn south and follow the dirt road for about 10 kilometers until you reach Lake Khar. Ensure your vehicle is suitable for off-road conditions, as the last stretch can be bumpy.

• Public Transportation (Bus)

  Start at the Khar Nuur bus station. Look for buses headed towards Töv. The journey will take about 45 minutes and cost around 2,000 MNT. Once you arrive in Töv, you will need to hire a local taxi or arrange for a ride to Lake Khar, which is approximately 10 kilometers away. Taxi fares can vary, but expect to pay around 10,000 MNT for the short trip to the lake.

• Bicycle

  For the adventurous, renting a bicycle in Khar Nuur can be a great way to reach Lake Khar. Start by heading east on the main road towards Töv. The distance is about 40 kilometers, so prepare for a long ride. The route is relatively flat but may have some rough patches. Bring plenty of water and snacks for the journey. Upon reaching Töv, follow the same dirt road south for 10 kilometers to reach the lake.

• Hiking

  If you're feeling adventurous and fit, you can hike from Khar Nuur to Lake Khar. Start by heading east on the main road. After about 15 kilometers, you’ll find a path that leads south toward the lake. This hike is challenging and should only be attempted by experienced hikers. Prepare adequately with food, water, and a map, as the terrain can be rugged and the path may not be well-marked.
