Car
From Ulaanbaatar, drive to Khovsgol Lake by following the A4 highway towards Erdenet. After about 260 km, take a left turn onto the A-10 road towards Khovsgol. Continue on this road for approximately 300 km until you reach the town of Mörön, the capital of Khovsgol Province. From Mörön, follow the signs to Khovsgol Lake, which is about 90 km away. The total driving time is approximately 10-12 hours depending on road conditions.
Bus
From Ulaanbaatar, take a bus to Mörön. Buses leave daily from the Ulaanbaatar Central Bus Station and the journey takes about 15-18 hours. Tickets cost around 25,000 to 35,000 MNT (Mongolian Tugrik). Once in Mörön, you can find local transport (such as shared taxis or buses) to Khovsgol Lake, which is approximately 90 km away from Mörön. The local transport costs around 10,000 MNT.
Shared Taxi
If you prefer a faster option after reaching Mörön, you can hire a shared taxi to Khovsgol Lake. This option allows for quicker travel compared to local buses. Shared taxis typically leave when full and charge about 15,000 to 20,000 MNT per person. The journey takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours.
Local Bus
In Mörön, you can take a local bus directly to Khovsgol Lake. Buses operate several times a day and the fare is around 10,000 MNT. Ensure to check the schedule as these can vary depending on the season.
