Kootenai Falls Suspension Bridge: A Majestic Adventure

Getting There

• Walking

  Starting from downtown Libby, head north on Mineral Avenue toward Kootenai River Rd. Continue straight for about 0.5 miles until you reach the intersection with Kootenai River Rd. Turn right onto Kootenai River Rd. Follow Kootenai River Rd for approximately 3 miles. You will pass scenic views of the river and forested areas. Look for signs indicating the Kootenai Falls Recreation Area on your left. Once you arrive at the parking area, you can walk the short trail to the Kootenai Falls Suspension Bridge.

• Bicycle

  From downtown Libby, rent a bicycle from a local shop. Begin your ride by heading north on Mineral Avenue toward Kootenai River Rd. After about 0.5 miles, turn right onto Kootenai River Rd. Continue cycling on Kootenai River Rd for approximately 3 miles. The road can be scenic but watch for occasional vehicle traffic. Once you see the signs for Kootenai Falls Recreation Area, you can park your bike at the designated area and walk the remaining short trail to the suspension bridge.

• Public Transport

  Check the local bus schedule for Libby's public transportation options. You will want to take a bus that goes toward Kootenai Falls or is heading along Kootenai River Rd. If a direct bus is not available, take a bus toward the nearest stop to Kootenai River Rd, and then walk the remaining distance. Once you arrive at Kootenai River Rd, follow the road for about 3 miles until you reach the Kootenai Falls Recreation Area.
