Public Bus
Start by walking to the nearest bus stop in downtown Missoula. You can catch the Mountain Line bus #6 at the stop near the Missoula Public Library. Stay on the bus for approximately 15 minutes until you reach the stop at 'Mount Jumbo'. From there, follow the signs that indicate the trailhead for Mount Jumbo L Hike, and you will arrive at The L. The trailhead is about a 10-minute walk from the bus stop.
Bicycle
If you prefer to bike, rent a bike from one of the local rental shops in downtown Missoula. Head north on Higgins Avenue, following the bike lanes. Continue onto Rattlesnake Drive, where you will see the entrance to Mount Jumbo. Park your bike at the nearest bike rack, and follow the trail to The L, which is a short hike from the trailhead.
Walking
If you're feeling adventurous and want to walk, start at the Missoula Public Library. Head north on Higgins Avenue, then turn left onto Broadway Street. Continue walking until you reach the intersection with Rattlesnake Drive. Turn right onto Rattlesnake Drive and follow it until you reach the Mount Jumbo trailhead. It’s about a 2-mile walk, which will take approximately 40-50 minutes. Look for the trail signs directing you to The L once you arrive at the trailhead.
