Getting There

  • Car

    If you are starting from the Mammoth Hot Springs area, head south on the Grand Loop Road (US-89). Continue for approximately 24 miles until you reach the junction with the North Entrance Road. Keep following the Grand Loop Road. You will pass through the beautiful Norris Geyser Basin and the Madison Junction. After about 10 miles from Norris, you will arrive at the junction with the Firehole Canyon Drive. Continue straight on the Grand Loop Road. After another 20 miles, look for a sign directing you to LeHardy Rapids. Turn left onto the road marked for LeHardy Rapids and follow it for about 1 mile until you reach the parking area.

  • Public Transportation

    If you are using public transportation, check the Yellowstone National Park shuttle service schedule, which typically operates from mid-summer to early fall. From the Mammoth Hot Springs area, take the shuttle south towards Old Faithful. Inform the driver that you are heading to LeHardy Rapids.
