Independence Square: The Heart of Podgorica

Getting There

• Walking

  If you are currently in the center of Bar, start by heading towards the Bar bus station, located near the waterfront. From there, you can catch a bus to Podgorica. Buses to Podgorica run frequently throughout the day, so you shouldn't have to wait long. Once you arrive at the Podgorica bus station, exit and head towards the main road, Boulevard of Revolution. From here, you can either take a taxi or continue walking towards Independence Square. It's approximately a 30-minute walk. Follow Boulevard of Revolution straight until you reach the intersection with Novaka Miloševa street, and turn left. Independence Square will be on your right.

• Bus

  To reach Independence Square from Bar, first make your way to the Bar bus station. Purchase a ticket for a bus to Podgorica. The journey takes about 1 hour. Upon arriving at the Podgorica bus station, you can take a local bus or a taxi. If opting for a local bus, look for bus number 1 or 2 that goes towards the city center. The bus ride will take about 15 minutes. Get off at the stop for Independence Square, which is a well-known landmark in the area.

• Taxi

  If you prefer a more direct route, you can take a taxi from Bar to Podgorica. There are various taxi services available; you can book one through your hotel or a local service. The ride will take around 45 minutes to 1 hour, depending on traffic. Once you arrive in Podgorica, tell the driver to drop you off at Independence Square, located at 2 Novaka Miloševa. The taxi driver will know the location, as it is a popular tourist destination.
