If you are driving from Durmitor National Park, head towards the town of Žabljak and take the E65 road heading south. Continue on the E65 until you reach the town of Kotor. Once in Kotor, follow the signs for St John Fortress (Fort of St. Ivan). You will park your car in one of the designated parking areas in Kotor. The closest parking spot is near the Old Town. From there, walk towards the Old Town and find the trail that leads up to the fortress. There is a small fee for parking, typically around 1-2 EUR per hour.

To reach Kotor Fortress from Durmitor using public transportation, start by taking a bus from Žabljak to Kotor. Buses generally run several times a day and the journey takes about 2-3 hours. Once you arrive at the Kotor bus station, exit the station and walk towards the Old Town. Follow the signs directing you to St John Fortress. The walk from the bus station to the fortress entrance takes about 15-20 minutes. Keep in mind that bus tickets typically cost around 10-15 EUR. Be sure to check the bus schedule in advance as it may vary.
