From the Old Town of Kotor, head east towards the main square, Trg od Oruzja. Once you reach the square, look for the large stone steps leading up towards the fortress. Follow these steps up, which will eventually take you out of the Old Town and onto the path towards St. John Fortress (St. Ivan). Continue following the path uphill, which is well-marked and offers scenic views along the way. After about 20-30 minutes of walking, you will reach the entrance to St. John Fortress, where you can enjoy breathtaking views of Kotor Bay.

If you are near the Kotor Marina, head towards the Old Town. Enter the Old Town through the Sea Gate and navigate to the Trg od Oruzja. From here, locate the stone steps leading to the fortress. Ascend these steps and continue along the winding path to St. John Fortress. The walk takes approximately 25-35 minutes, and the route is well-signposted, with beautiful vistas to appreciate along the way.
