Car
If you are traveling by car from Chaouia to Koutoubia in Marrakesh, take the N9 road towards Marrakesh. Continue driving for approximately 100 kilometers. Once you reach Marrakesh, follow signs for the Medina. You will eventually reach Avenue Mohammed V, where you should look for signs directing you to Koutoubia Mosque. There is limited parking available near the mosque, so plan to arrive early to secure a spot. Be aware that parking may incur a fee of around 10-20 MAD.
Public Transportation (Bus)
To reach Koutoubia via public transportation, you can take a bus from Chaouia to Marrakesh. Look for buses heading to Marrakesh at the main bus station in Chaouia. The ride usually takes about 2-3 hours and costs around 30-50 MAD. Once you arrive in Marrakesh, disembark at the bus station and take a local bus or taxi to the Medina. If taking a taxi, it should cost about 20-30 MAD to get to Koutoubia.
Public Transportation (Train)
Alternatively, you can take a train from Chaouia to Marrakesh. Head to the nearest train station and purchase a ticket to Marrakesh. The journey takes approximately 2 hours and costs around 50-70 MAD. Upon arriving at the Marrakesh train station, exit and take a taxi to Koutoubia, which should cost around 20-30 MAD.
Walking from Medina
If you are already in the Medina of Marrakesh, Koutoubia is easily accessible by foot. From the bustling Jemaa el-Fnaa square, walk towards Avenue Mohammed V. After about a 10-15 minute walk, you will see the minaret of Koutoubia Mosque towering above. It is a popular landmark, so you can also ask locals for directions if needed.
