If you are driving from anywhere in Doukkala-Abda, head towards Marrakech via the N1 highway. Follow the signs to Marrakech for approximately 2 hours, covering about 130 km. Once you arrive in Marrakech, use a GPS or a map app to navigate to Rue Assouel in the Medina. Parking can be found nearby, but be prepared for a short walk to the Medresa Ben Youssef as vehicle access in the Medina can be limited.
Bus
You can take a bus from various locations in Doukkala-Abda to Marrakech. Look for a bus service like CTM or Supratours, which offers comfortable rides. The journey will take approximately 2-3 hours. Once you arrive at the bus station in Marrakech, take a taxi or walk to the Medina. If walking, head towards the Koutoubia Mosque as a landmark, then navigate to Rue Assouel. Expect a taxi fare of around 20-30 MAD (Moroccan Dirham) for the short ride to the medina.
Taxi
If you prefer a more direct route, you can hire a taxi from anywhere in Doukkala-Abda to Marrakech. This option might be costly, generally ranging from 600 to 800 MAD depending on your starting point and negotiation skills. Once in Marrakech, instruct the driver to take you to Rue Assouel in the Medina, where the Medresa Ben Youssef is located.
Local Transportation
After arriving in Marrakech, if you decide to use local transportation, you can take a petit taxi (small taxi) to the Medina for about 10-20 MAD. Ask the driver to drop you off at Rue Assouel. Alternatively, you can use horse-drawn carriages (called 'calesh') for a scenic ride to the Medina, which should cost around 50-100 MAD.
