Continue on this road for about 5 kilometers until you reach the entrance to the dunes, which is well marked. You can park your car at designated parking areas closer to the dunes. Depending on your destination within the Sáhara Desert, you may need to hire a local guide or a 4x4 vehicle to take you deeper into the desert.

From Merzouga, you can take a shared taxi (also known as 'grand taxi') towards the dunes. These taxis typically leave from the main square in Merzouga. Once you get to the drop-off point near the desert entrance, you will need to walk or hire a local guide to take you into the desert. Expect to pay around 20-30 MAD for the shared taxi ride. Always confirm the fare before getting in.

If you're already at the edge of the dunes, you can simply walk towards them. The iconic Erg Chebbi dunes are just a short distance from the main road. Follow the signs pointing towards the dunes.
