Getting There

• Car

  If you are driving from Marrakesh to the Morocco Dunes, you will take the N9 road from Marrakesh towards Ouarzazate. This scenic route will take approximately 4 hours and covers about 200 kilometers. After passing through Ouarzazate, continue on the N10 towards Tazenakht and then follow the signs towards the Rissani area. From Rissani, head south towards Merzouga, where you can find local guides to take you to the dunes. Be prepared for potential tolls along the way, estimated at around 50 MAD.

• Public Transportation

  To reach the Morocco Dunes via public transportation, begin your journey by taking a bus from Marrakesh to Merzouga. The bus ride takes about 10-12 hours and is offered by several companies such as Supratours or CTM. Tickets generally cost around 200-300 MAD. Once you arrive in Merzouga, you can hire a local taxi or a 4x4 vehicle to take you directly to the Morocco Dunes. The taxi ride from Merzouga to the dunes will cost approximately 100 MAD.

• Shared Taxi

  Another option is to take a shared taxi (also known as a grand taxi) from Marrakesh to Merzouga. These taxis typically leave when they are full and the journey can take around 8-10 hours depending on traffic. The cost per person is usually around 400 MAD. Once in Merzouga, you can arrange for a local guide to take you to the Morocco Dunes, which will cost an additional 100-150 MAD.
