We were a group of friends stopping in Tangier on a cruise, and this tour with Mehdi was awesome. He met us right at the port and made the whole day easy and fun. No stress, no rushing, just a great mix of sights, culture, and hanging out. Felt like traveling with a local friend.

Tangier to Marrakech: Private 8-Days Tour Imperial Cities, Mountains & Desert

A Wonderful and Unforgettable Journey

This was an amazing private adventure! No mass tour buses or cramped conditions. We had a newer model Ford van for two people. There are a couple longer travel days crossing the mountains so the open legroom and space in the van was a nice bonus. Our guide for the entire 8 days, Lahcen Hassan, was friendly, knowledgeable and a true ambassador for all things Moroccan. Our biggest takeaway was the universal kindness we encountered with every local person we met, even in the busy markets. This 8 day tour was so diverse. We saw the larger cities of Tangier and Marrakech. The historical imperial cities of Meknes and Fez. The blue hues of Chefchaouen. The contrast leaving the cities by crossing the Atlas mountains twice and experiencing the openness of the Sahara desert environment with a camel ride, exciting 4x4 rides over the dunes, camping with firepit entertainment under the stars and meals with local nomad villagers was wonderful. Lodging throughout the trip was 4 and 5 star hotels, very comfortable. At many destinations we were introduced to local guides who gave us personal in-depth tours of the area. The food everywhere was varied and delicious. We became fans of everything prepared with a tagine. Tipping is customary and somewhat expected in Morocco, but we were never asked to tip. The internet has many sites that list suggested tip amounts for Morocco. This 8 day trip tapped into such a wide variety of Moroccan life. It was truly worth the time, effort and expense. You will never forget the experience.
