Car
If you're driving from Zaër to Jemaa el-Fnaa, start by heading southwest on Route N9. Follow the signs towards Marrakesh. Once you enter the city, you can look for signs pointing to the Medina area. You may need to park outside the Medina, as driving inside can be challenging due to narrow streets and heavy pedestrian traffic. Public parking areas are available, such as the parking lot at Place des Ferblantiers, which is about a 10-minute walk from Jemaa el-Fnaa.
Public Bus
To reach Jemaa el-Fnaa by public bus, catch a bus from Zaër heading to Marrakesh. Buses usually depart from the main bus station in Zaër. The journey may take about 30 minutes to an hour, depending on traffic. Once you arrive at the Marrakesh bus station, you can either walk (approximately 20 minutes) or take a local taxi to Jemaa el-Fnaa. If walking, head southwest towards Avenue Mohammed VI, then turn left onto Rue Mohammed El Baqqal, which will take you directly to the Medina.
Taxi
For a more direct route, consider taking a taxi from Zaër to Jemaa el-Fnaa. Ensure that you agree on a fare before starting your journey, as taxis may not always use a meter for longer distances. The ride should take approximately 30 minutes, depending on traffic. Once you arrive, you will be dropped off near the entrance to the Medina, and you can easily walk to Jemaa el-Fnaa from there.
Shared Taxi
Shared taxis (also known as 'taxi-brousse') are another option to get from Zaër to Marrakesh. You can find these shared taxis at designated taxi stands. They usually leave when they are full and can be a more economical option, costing around 40-50 MAD per person. Once you reach Marrakesh, you can either walk or take a local taxi to Jemaa el-Fnaa.
