Getting There

  To reach the Maputo Special Reserve from Maputo City by car, start by heading northeast on Avenida 25 de Setembro. Continue onto Avenida Julius Nyerere, which turns into EN1. Follow EN1 for approximately 84 km. Look for signs indicating the Maputo Special Reserve entrance. The journey should take around 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on traffic. It's advisable to fill your gas tank in Maputo City before heading out, as fuel stations may be limited along the route.

  For those using public transportation, first make your way to the main bus terminal in Maputo City, located at Praça dos Trabalhadores. Look for a 'chapa' (shared minibus) heading to Ponta de Ouro or any direction towards EN1. Ensure you confirm with the driver that they will pass by the Maputo Special Reserve. The fare is generally low (around 50-100 MZN). Once you reach the vicinity of the reserve (about 84 km from Maputo), you may need to take a short taxi ride to the entrance if the chapa does not go directly there.
