If you are traveling by car, start your journey from Maputo city center. Head northeast on Av. 24 de Julho toward Av. Julius Nyerere. Continue for about 4 km. Merge onto EN1 (N1) via the ramp to Machava. Continue on EN1 for approximately 25 km until you see signs for the Pequenos Libombos area. Take the exit toward Pequenos Libombos. Follow the road signs that direct you to the lake. Expect to pay for tolls along the EN1 route, which can cost around 50 meticais.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, start at the main bus station in Maputo (Terminal de Transporte). Look for a bus that heads towards Marracuene or Macia. The fare is generally around 25 meticais. Inform the driver that you are heading to Pequenos Libombos. After approximately 30-45 minutes, you will reach a point close to the lake. From there, you may need to take a local taxi or a moto-taxi to the lake, which should cost around 50 meticais.
Taxi/Moto-Taxi
If you are already in the vicinity of Pequenos Libombos but not directly at the lake, you can hire a taxi or moto-taxi for the last leg of your journey. Just negotiate the fare before starting the ride; it should not exceed 100 meticais. Make sure to show the driver a map or mention Pequenos Libombos to ensure they know the destination.
