Getting There

  • Walking

    Start from the Matola bus terminal (Terminal de Transporte de Matola). Head southeast towards Avenida 25 de Setembro. Walk along Avenida 25 de Setembro until you reach the intersection with Avenida da Maxaquene. Turn left and continue walking until you reach the intersection with Rua da Beira. Turn right onto Rua da Beira and continue straight. You will pass through the suburb of Central C. Keep walking until you see signs for Praça 25 de Junho. The Fortress of Maputo is located adjacent to the fishing port in this square. You should see the fortress ahead as you approach the square.

  • Public Transport (Chapa)

    From any point in Matola, make your way to the nearest chapa stop. Board a chapa heading towards Maputo city center. Inform the driver that you want to be dropped off near Praça 25 de Junho. The ride will take approximately 30-45 minutes depending on traffic. Once you arrive at Praça 25 de Junho, exit the chapa and walk towards the fishing port. The Fortress of Maputo is located right next to the port, and you should be able to see it from the square.
