Car
If you are driving to Quirimba Island, start from a major town in the Quirimbas Archipelago, such as Pemba. From Pemba, take EN1 highway towards the town of Metuge. After approximately 40 kilometers, follow signs to the Nampula province and continue to the town of Quissanga. The drive should take around 2 hours. Once in Quissanga, park your car in a designated area as vehicles cannot go directly to the island. You will need to arrange for a boat transfer to Quirimba Island from Quissanga. The boat ride takes about 30-45 minutes and costs around $20-$30 per person, depending on the operator.
Public Transportation
For public transportation, start in Pemba and take a chapa (shared taxi) heading towards Metuge. This ride will cost around $2 and take about 1 hour. From Metuge, take another chapa to Quissanga, which should cost you around $3 and take an additional hour. Once you arrive in Quissanga, you will need to find a local boat operator who can take you to Quirimba Island. The boat transfer costs between $20-$30 per person and usually takes about 30-45 minutes.
