Getting There

Walking
From the center of Old Bagan, head east on the main street, 'Nyaung U Road'. Continue straight for about 1 kilometer until you reach the 'Bagan Archaeological Museum' on your left. This will be a good landmark. Keep walking past the museum and take the next left onto 'Maha Bodhi Road'. Continue straight for about 500 meters, and you will see the Maha Bodhi Phaya on your right. Make sure to look for the distinct architectural features of the temple as you approach.

Bicycle
If you prefer cycling, you can rent a bicycle from one of the many rental shops in Old Bagan. Once you have a bike, head southeast towards 'Nyaung U Road' and follow the same route as walking. The ride will take approximately 10-15 minutes. Keep an eye out for the 'Bagan Archaeological Museum' to guide you along the way. Bicycles typically cost around 1,000-3,000 MMK per day, depending on the type and rental place.

For a more traditional experience, consider hiring a horse cart. You can find horse carts readily available around Old Bagan, especially near popular tourist spots. Negotiate the fare beforehand, which can range from 5,000 to 10,000 MMK for a round trip to Maha Bodhi Phaya. Once you’re in the cart, instruct the driver to take you to 'Maha Bodhi Phaya', and they will know the way.
