Getting There

  • Car

    From Golden Rock, start by heading northwest on the main road towards Kyaiktiyo. After approximately 12 kilometers, you will reach the junction where you can turn left towards Sagaing. Follow the road for about 30 kilometers until you reach Sagaing City. Look for signs directing you to Kaunghmudaw Pagoda. The pagoda is located at WWMQ+56W, Sitee, and you can easily navigate using a GPS or maps app. Expect the drive to take around 1 to 1.5 hours depending on traffic.

  • Public Transportation

    From Golden Rock, take a local bus or shared taxi towards Kyaiktiyo. The fare is usually around 1,500 MMK. Once you reach Kyaiktiyo, transfer to a bus heading to Sagaing. The bus fare to Sagaing is approximately 5,000 MMK and the journey will take about 1.5 to 2 hours. After arriving in Sagaing, you can either take a taxi or a local tricycle to reach Kaunghmudaw Pagoda, which is about 5 kilometers away. The taxi fare should be around 3,000 MMK.
