Make sure to ask for a boat that is heading towards Nyaungshwe, a town at the northern end of the lake. The boat ride usually takes about 30-45 minutes. Once you arrive at the Nyaungshwe jetty, disembark and head to the main road.

From the Nyaungshwe jetty, walk towards the main street, which is known as Canal Road. Follow Canal Road for about 1 kilometer until you reach the junction with the Phaung Daw U Pagoda Road. Turn left onto Phaung Daw U Pagoda Road and continue straight, keeping an eye out for local shops and eateries along the way.

Continue walking until you reach the bus station in Nyaungshwe, where you can catch a local bus heading towards Kalaw. The bus ride is approximately 1 hour and will take you through scenic landscapes. Make sure to ask the driver to drop you off at the Old Post Office in Kalaw, or inform them that you want to go to the area known as JHM8+38M.
