Travel Guide to Khaung Daing Natural Hot Spring

Getting There

• Boat

  If you are staying in the Inle Lake area, the most scenic way to reach Khaung Daing Natural Hot Spring is by taking a boat ride. Start your journey by heading to the nearest boat dock in Nyaungshwe. From there, you can hire a long-tail boat, which is a common mode of transportation on the lake. Make sure to negotiate the price beforehand; a typical ride should cost around 15,000 to 20,000 kyats. The boat ride will take you through the stunning landscapes of Inle Lake, passing floating gardens and traditional stilt houses. After approximately 30–45 minutes on the water, ask the boatman to drop you off at Khaung Daing village. The hot springs are located a short walk from the dock. Once you disembark, follow the signs or ask locals for directions to the hot springs, which should be a straightforward 10-minute walk.

• Bike

  If you prefer to explore on land, renting a bicycle is a great option. Many guesthouses in Nyaungshwe offer bike rentals for around 1,000 to 3,000 kyats per day. Start your ride by heading out of Nyaungshwe towards the main road leading to Khaung Daing. Follow the road signs towards the village, which is located about 6 kilometers away from Nyaungshwe. The route is mostly flat and offers beautiful views of the surrounding countryside. Upon reaching Khaung Daing, look for signs directing you to the hot springs, which are located a short distance from the main road.

• Trekking

  For those who enjoy hiking, you can trek from Nyaungshwe to Khaung Daing. Start your trek by taking the road leading out of Nyaungshwe towards the village. The trek is approximately 6 kilometers and typically takes about 1.5 to 2 hours depending on your pace. As you walk, you will experience the local flora and possibly encounter friendly villagers. Once you arrive in Khaung Daing village, follow the signs to the hot springs, which are easily accessible from the village center.
