If you are driving a car, start from Mawlamyine, the capital of Mon State. Head north on the National Highway 1 for approximately 130 kilometers towards Bago. Keep an eye out for signs leading to Bago as you approach the city. Once in Bago, follow local signs to the Snake Pagoda, which is located at latitude 17.3249327 and longitude 96.5057438 (address: 8GF4+X7H, Bago). There may be some small local roads to navigate, so use a GPS or map app for the final stretch. Parking is usually available nearby the pagoda.
Public Transportation (Bus)
To reach the Snake Pagoda by public transport, take a bus from Mawlamyine to Bago. Buses leave frequently from the Mawlamyine bus terminal and the journey takes about 3-4 hours. Upon arrival at Bago, you can take a local taxi or a trishaw directly to the Snake Pagoda (8GF4+X7H, Bago). The taxi fare should be around 2,000 to 3,000 MMK. Make sure to confirm the fare before starting your ride.
Public Transportation (Shared Taxi)
Alternatively, you can opt for a shared taxi from Mawlamyine to Bago. These taxis usually leave when they are full and can be slightly faster than the bus. Once you reach Bago, hire a local taxi or trishaw to take you to the Snake Pagoda. This option may cost more, around 5,000 MMK for the shared taxi and an additional 2,000 to 3,000 MMK for the taxi to the pagoda.
