Getting there

Car

If you are traveling by car, start your journey from Mawlamyine, the capital of Mon State. Head north on the main road (National Road 8) towards Thaton. After approximately 30 km, you will see signs directing you to Mount Zwegabin. Turn off at the sign and follow the winding road for about 10 km, which will take you to the base of the mountain. There is parking available near the foot of the mountain.

Public Transportation (Bus)

From Mawlamyine, you can take a local bus to Thaton, which departs frequently from the central bus station. The journey takes around 1 hour and costs approximately 1,500 MMK. Once you arrive in Thaton, look for a shared taxi or motorbike taxi that can take you to the base of Mount Zwegabin. This ride will take another 30 minutes and may cost around 3,000 to 5,000 MMK.

Motorbike Taxi

If you prefer a quicker option after reaching Thaton, you can hire a motorbike taxi directly from the bus station. Negotiate the fare before the ride; it should be around 3,000 MMK to the base of Mount Zwegabin. The ride takes about 30 minutes and offers a chance to see the local landscape.

Walking/Hiking

Once you arrive at the base of Mount Zwegabin, you will need to hike up to the peak. The trail is well-marked and takes approximately 1-2 hours, depending on your fitness level. Make sure to wear comfortable hiking shoes and carry sufficient water. There may be a small entrance fee of around 1,000 MMK to access the trails.
