Car
If you are driving from Taunggyi, take the AH1 highway heading towards the south. Continue for approximately 90 kilometers until you reach the junction to Hpa-An, and then follow the signs for the Sittang River. The road is generally well-maintained, but be cautious of local traffic and road conditions. The Sittang River is located to the east of the highway, near the town of Bago. You may need to park at a designated area and walk a short distance to the riverbank.
Public Transportation
From Taunggyi, you can take a bus to Bago. The journey will take around 4-5 hours and costs approximately 10,000 to 15,000 kyats, depending on the bus service. Once you arrive in Bago, you can hire a taxi or take a local motorcycle taxi to reach the Sittang River, which is about 30 minutes away. Ensure to negotiate the fare with the taxi driver before starting your journey. The taxi fare should be around 5,000 to 10,000 kyats.
Combination of Bus and Boat
Starting from Taunggyi, board a bus to Hpa-An, which will take approximately 3-4 hours for about 10,000 kyats. Once in Hpa-An, you can take a boat along the river towards the Sittang River area. This boat ride offers beautiful views and takes about 1-2 hours. The boat fare may vary, but you can expect to pay around 5,000 to 7,000 kyats. Make sure to ask the boat operator about the exact drop-off point near the Sittang River.
