Getting There

  • Car

    From Yangon, take the Yangon-Bago Highway (AH1) heading north. Travel approximately 80 kilometers until you reach the turnoff for Hpa Yar Gyi. Turn right at the sign for Hpa Yar Gyi and continue for about 20 kilometers. The Wingabaw Elephant Camp is located at FFFC+C7C, Hpa Yar Gyi. You can use a GPS or mapping app for precise navigation. Parking is available at the camp.

    Start by taking a bus from Yangon to Bago. Buses leave frequently from the Aung Mingalar Highway Bus Terminal. The journey takes about 2 hours; tickets cost around 3,000 to 5,000 kyats depending on the bus service. Once you arrive in Bago, take a local taxi or a motorbike taxi to Hpa Yar Gyi, which is approximately 30 kilometers away. The taxi fare should range from 10,000 to 15,000 kyats. Upon reaching Hpa Yar Gyi, ask the driver to take you to FFFC+C7C, which is the location of Wingabaw Elephant Camp.
