Car
If you are traveling by car within Erongo, head towards the town of Otjiwarongo. From there, take the C39 road heading south. Continue on the C39 for about 60 kilometers until you reach the turnoff for Okonjima, which is marked by a sign. Follow the signs leading you into the Okonjima Game Reserve. The Plains Camp is located about 10 kilometers from the main entrance of the reserve, with clear signage guiding you to the camp. Ensure you have cash for the entrance fee to the reserve, which costs around N$ 100.
Public Transportation
To reach Okonjima Plains Camp via public transport, first take a bus from Windhoek to Otjiwarongo. Buses are available from the main bus terminal in Windhoek and the journey takes approximately 3-4 hours. Once in Otjiwarongo, you can arrange for a taxi or shuttle service to Okonjima. Make sure to pre-book the taxi to ensure availability, as public transport options to the camp are limited. The taxi ride will take about 30-40 minutes and may cost around N$ 600-800 depending on the negotiation.
