If you're driving, start from Opuwo, the main town in Kaokoland. Head northwest on the C43 road towards the town of Sesfontein. After about 90 kilometers, you will reach a junction. Take the left onto the D3700 road. Continue for approximately 60 kilometers until you see signs for the Petrified Forest. The last stretch is a gravel road, so ensure your vehicle is suitable for off-road conditions. The journey will take around 2 to 3 hours depending on road conditions.

Public transport options are limited in Kaokoland. From Opuwo, you can take a local taxi or shuttle service that heads towards Sesfontein.
