Take the left onto the D3700 road. Continue for approximately 60 kilometers until you see signs for the Petrified Forest. The last stretch is a gravel road, so ensure your vehicle is suitable for off-road conditions. The journey will take around 2 to 3 hours depending on road conditions.

    Public transport options are limited in Kaokoland. From Opuwo, you can take a local taxi or shuttle service that heads towards Sesfontein. Confirm with the driver if they can drop you off at the junction on the D3700 road. From there, you may need to arrange a taxi or local guide to take you the remaining 60 kilometers to the Petrified Forest as public transport is sparse.
